On Saturday, September 19, the Corsica River Yacht Club held their Fall Open Sailing/Race Day. Two Windmills and a Comet showed up to go sailing. After a quick meeting with co-chairs, Marcey Sherman and Lance Williams, boats started to launch and head out. One of the Windmills had some trouble with its bailer and changed out to a different boat. At first, it was blowing about 12-15 knots and the Comet sailed by Rowan P decided to come back in. Once the two Windmills got out on the water, they found the wind was already starting to die down. After the first race, a long windward-leeward race, it was decided that with just the 2 boats some change of crew and skippers would allow more fun and learning could be had. So, there were lot of changing positions with everyone having a turn at the tillers. The wind continued to die down and in the early afternoon it was decided it was time to go home, so the last race was a one leg upwind race back to the club. Once ashore, all agreed it was a great time on the water. Sailors racing were Valerie I, Ed S, prospective new member Bill G, and Roy S. Each won at least one race during the day. Fall RC Laser sailing kicked off on Sunday morning at CRYC. Three boats went sailing in what I would call very close racing. The changing conditions often let boats pass each other during the races, with some races so close that the finish line had to be watched carefully to see who would win. If you have not come out to see this yet I encourage others to come. Next Sunday, Sep. 20, is lining up to be sailing at Rock Hall on that morning. ...

Last night we had the first race of the Please do not let it end Thursday night race.I am pleased to report that 1 Comet and 3 Windmills had a pleasant race out to R2 and back. Rowen with his wife as crew took an early lead and never looked back winning on boat corrected time and boat for boat. Next to finish was Kevin Lahoda skippering Rose the windmill with Roy as crew, Next was Erik Arnesen sailing his windmill with Felex Lahoda as crew Finishing out the fleet was Ed Simon with crew Bill Griswold as crew on Black and Blue windmill.
